Product Description
In the same spirit of the Godfather of the Hoyo's family, the Double Corona, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 at 124mm x 50 is a great success. It develops rich and complex aromas in a smooth registry. It is standing out from the other Robustos thanks to its construction that is softer, and thanks to its impeccable final third. A Pre 1960 release.
The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 is one of the best examples of a robusto and probably in the top five of all brands robustos. It lacks the strength of the Cohibas, but it is superior to the Upmanns.A great Habano from Hoyo de Monterrey that should not be missing from the humidor of the true aficionado.
It is creamy and smooth yet it is robust. The aromas of tobacco are strong but the tastes of cocoa, cinnamon and dried berries make it a complex cigar. Many a smoker will have started their Cuban apprenticeship with this agreeable Robusto.
It's floral bouquet, brought out by a touches of gingerbread, opens on a completely unexpected, but pleasing fresh and dry note. This is a medium bodied cigar, but the complexity of blend can sometimes make it feel stronger to the novice palate. The aromas respond well to the fresh air of the outdoors and this Epicure No.2 will be most appreciated on a gentle stroll through the forest.

delicious
perfect draw for me at this gauge, excellent character, with complex elegant flavours on the sweet umami side and minimal bitter overtones (almost none) overall a very pleasant surprise, the burn is disciplined - smashed one stick in about 30mins dry (not drinking or talking to others), definitely warrants a place in my humidor - thank you cigars.co.za

Lovely cigar
This is a very nice cigar very smooth very enjoyable. The construction of the cigar is quite decent easy to pull not too fragile and burns evenly. I would recommend this for a after lunch treat on a sunday afternoon

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 2
Very smooth and mild although the final third packed more punch

A new everyday favourite
This was a very pleasant surprise. From scouring online reviews I wasn't expecting to find too much character here (generally really descriptions focus on light/mildness), but even through first third this was a real pleasure with plenty of depth. Found the 'floral' notes in the description here are somewhat true but for me did not come at the expense of rounded, fuller flavors. Also detected a pleasing vanilla aftertaste on the retrohale for the final half. This is going to be a 'go to' for my humidor. Price also not bad.
