Product Description
Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada, a limited edition that the company says is the first cigar to use a wrapper grown on the volcanic island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. The island is home to two volcanoes—Concepción and Maderas—which are connected by a small lowland area. Plasencia named the strand of tobacco Hoja del Fuego, or blade of fire. The binder and filler also come from Nicaragua, though Plasencia disclosed neither the regions nor the varietals used.
“This cigar is a remarkable work of art. Since 1865, we have nurtured and cultivated tobacco, and at last, we have successfully grown a wrapper of unparalleled beauty in Ometepe, Nicaragua,” said Néstor Andres Plasencia in a press release. “The island of Ometepe is of great significance to our family as it has been to the Indigenous peoples of this region. We celebrate this achievement with the Plasencia Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada.”
The cigar is a 6 x 54 box-pressed torpedo that comes in a glass tubo with a two-piece, magnetized base, with each box containing 20 cigars
There is a center spot that contains a piece of folded leather with the Plasencia logo on it; it’s a spot that looks like it was intended to be home to a cutter and lighter, or maybe even some rocks glasses, that ultimately got scrapped.
nstead, it’s an empty space that is covered by a piece of thick leather that has a description of Ometepe on the back.
This is not the first time the Plasencia has used tobacco from Ometepe, as the regular production sizes of its Alma del Fuego line use tobacco from the island for one of its two binders and part of the filler, while the wrapper comes from the Jalapa region.
This is the only box in South Africa.
