In an effort to make all the sizes of its Alma del Fuego cigars easier to obtain, Plasencia Cigars is now offering a sampler pack that includes one of each. The cigars are an all-Nicaraguan blend of tobacco grown by the Plasencia family with emphasis on Ometepe, a volcanic island in Lake Nicaragua that produces distinct leaf.
While the wrapper on these cigars is from the Jalapa region of Nicaragua, most of the tobacco in Alma del Fuego is from Ometepe. One of the two binders are from Ometepe, as well as half the filler. Plasencia says that he’s aged these tobaccos for seven years, which is longer than he’s aged Ometepe leaf in the past.
Alma del Fuego translates to “soul of fire” in Spanish, and the volcanos of Ometepe are referenced on the box. The red and black design represents “black volcanic soil, fire and passion.“
