This year’s Oliva Melanio Edición Año, like the previous year’s releases, features the same blend as the standard Melanio, showcasing an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Jalapa and Estelí. That foundation delivers the same familiar flavor that won the Melanio Cigar of the Year in 2014.
Also, like previous year’s releases, this is your only way to get your hands on a round Melanio. If you prefer standard round cigars to box-pressed cigars but still want to enjoy the same great taste of Oliva Melanio, make sure you get yours before they’re gone for the year!
This is the third release in the Melanio line and like other Ltd. Editions, the cigar is rolled at the Tabolisa factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
Measuring 5" with a 54 ring gauge, Oliva have once again used an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, with filler and binder leaf grown on its own farms throughout Nicaragua and chosen for their particular qualities.
The sophisticated flavour profile featues cedar, leather and toffee expressions with hints of spice and espresso. A fleeting hint of chocolate comes and goes too.
Construction is flawless and this double robusto produces plenty of creamy, full flavoured smoke.
A smooth medium bodied experience that can last between 50 and 70 minutes, Oliva have once again proved that there's no substitute for passion and knowledge.
